Geography Bee
Students of each grade level (Grades 4 - 6) are invited to participate in the Geography Bee sponsored by the National Geographic Society. These top geography students compete to see who the qualifying winner is!
The questions for the Bee are developed by the National Geographic Society and include cultural as well as physical geography queries. The Bee was developed by the National Geographic Society in response to concern about the lack of geographic knowledge among young people in the United States.
Each school winner takes a written test, and the top hundred scorers in each state and territory compete at the state level. State-level Bees are held in the spring, and the winner of each state Bee proceeds to the national competition

Invention Convention

The Invention Convention is a type of science fair for students. It is designed to promote problem-solving and creative thinking skills. Students will be working on their projects independently at home .

The first step is to find an idea for an invention. Can you invent something? Can you think of an idea or invention that will help people? Find a problem that needs to be solved.

Try to put ideas together to come up with new and better ways of doing things. Research to make sure that your idea has never been used before. You are at the actual process of inventing now!

Remember that inventors often experience failure along the way, but that they remain persistent and keep trying and thinking.

History Fair
National History Day is an exciting way for students to study and learn about historical issues, ideas, people and events. This year the annual theme is "Frontiers in History: People, Places, and Ideas."

Students do best when they build upon their strengths and pursue topics that interest them. History Fair students are encouraged to choose any topic in local, national or world history and investigate its historical significance and relationship to the theme by conducting extensive primary and secondary research. Based on their interests and abilities, they can also choose the method of presenting their information. Each may enter one of the following seven categories: individual paper, individual or group exhibit (similar to a museum exhibit), individual or group performance (a dramatic portrayal of the topic), individual or group documentary (usually a slide show, a video, or a non-interactive computer program).

Students may enter as individuals or in groups of 2 to 5. Grades 4 and 5 make up the Primary division and Grade 6, 7 & 8 are the Junior Division. Judging is based chiefly on historical quality, use of primary sources, clarity of presentation, and adherence to an annual theme.

Science Fair

Science Fair Projects should be FUN and educational, with the emphasis on FUN.

A good project requires that you spend a lot of time thinking about how it work.

The most important things to demonstrate with your science fair project are that you understand your project and have explored the scientific and technical issues behind your project as well as you can.
